Boundary Walk

Due to declining numbers over the last few years and the ever-increasing availability of other organised walks in and around the Calder valley we have decided not to organise the Boundary Walk in future.

However, we are delighted to recommend another local Boundary Walk, this one organised by the Rotary Club of Todmorden. It is The Todmorden Boundary Walk and Pike Hike on 31st May 2020

The 22 mile route of the Todmorden Boundary Walk and Run takes in parts of the Calderdale Way and Pennine Way. It follows the old Todmorden Borough boundary.

The 12 mile Todmorden Pike Hike follows the canal tow path to Eastwood, before joining the final Boundary Walk section to Stoodley Pike.

All routes are flagged and have radio controlled checkpoints, where water and light refreshments are available. There will also be transport back to the start, for anyone not able to continue for whatever reason.

Rotary Shoebox Scheme

The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge regularly support the Rotary Shoe Box Scheme by arranging for local schools, businesses and individuals to fill a small, specially designed, box with gifts for orphans and the poor and needy in a number of eastern European countries.

Members of the Rotary club would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to everyone who participated in the last club’s Shoebox appeal. The boxes were taken to the scheme’s depot in Preston for delivery to underprivileged children and families in Eastern Europe, in time for Christmas.

We hope to support the Shoebox appeal every year, usually in autumn. If you are interested in supporting the scheme, either as an individual or as a local pub, business, school or nursery please contact us

Know Your Blood Pressure

Each year the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge organise a ‘Know Your Blood Pressure Day’ where trained medical staff from the Hebden Bridge Group Practice offer free blood pressure tests.
There are 152,000 strokes in the UK every year, that works out at one every five minutes. 16 million people in the UK have high blood pressure yet many of them don’t know it.  If left untreated, high blood pressure can increase your risk of having a stroke.

Our Know Your Blood Pressure campaign helps people to understand the link between high blood pressure and stroke, other risk factors and what they can do to reduce their risk of having a stroke.

Technology Tournaments

Rotary Technology Tournaments are a challenging and enjoyable way for young people to enrich their STEM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

The teams of pupils, typically in groups of four, have to solve an interactive technology-based task and are required to design, develop and build a solution with the materials supplied.

Tournaments culminate in the testing session when teams demonstrate their best solution to the task and can observe the efforts of competing teams.

The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge usually support the local event of this competition by providing financial help and judges.
